After the BBC's Weather Forcast predicted heavy rain with a chance of thundery storms, we were apprehensive about the outcome of our finals day.
However, the weather was on our side, despite the green being very wet and slippery the final's day matches started on time.
First match to finish was the 4 Woods Handicap, this is the second year this competition has taken place, competing for the Geoff Kerr Cup. Dave Brolly was the winner overcoming Denise Smith who had a 20 shot start the final score was 103-87.
The next Competition to finish was the Mens 4 Woods, competing for the Dave Rees Presidents Cup. Dave Rees came out winner after a close game beating Chris Gingell 21-16.
Next up and rounding off the mornings games was the Mixed Pairs, Winning for the second consecutive year Lynne Beale & Alan White beat Keith & Mary Feddery in another good game 19-6.
We then stopped for a very welcome lunch break, food from Sue's Cafe was just the job. All of the afternoon games started early to try and beat the rain.
The Ladies 4 Woods Singles playing for the Josephine Trophy was a cracking game which had the spectators on the edge of their seats. Lynne Beale came out winner for the second year running beating Carol Gould 20-14.
The Open 2 Woods, competing for the Vic Robins Memorial Cup was last years winner David H Brolly who was beaten by Michelle Miller, another good game to watch. The score 16-9.
Dave Rees & Dean Patmore clashed in the Fixed Jack, competing for the Rivermead Cup. Dave Rees picking up his second trophy of the day coming out as winner on the day with a score of 93-59.
The last game of the day The Non Winners competition, competing for the Devney Shield. This game was played in light rain between Carol Gould and Ann Brolly, Carol playing her second game back to back won 21 -15 after a very entertaining game.
We were then treated to a lovely performance from Victoria Starr AKA our good friend Vikki Dominguez.
Many thanks to everyone who helped on the day and those who were responsible for the organisation. Congratulations to all the bowlers and a big hand to all the club members who came out to support this event.
